Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 8, 2026 · Last updated: April 8, 2026
The short version: Projelli is a local-first desktop application. Your files, your work, and your AI conversations live on your computer. We don't have servers that store any of it. The only thing we collect is what's needed to validate your license key, plus minimal anonymous website analytics.
1. Who we are
"Projelli" (the "Software") is operated by Jameson Daines, an individual based in the United States. You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What we collect, and what we don't
What stays on your computer (we never see it)
- Your workspace files (Markdown documents, source cards, whiteboard data, audio recordings, version history)
- Your AI chat conversations
- Your AI provider API keys (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini), stored in your operating system's secure keychain
- Your application settings and preferences
- Your in-app audit log of AI actions
What we do collect (the minimum required to operate)
- License key validation data: When you activate Projelli with a paid license, the desktop app contacts our license server (
licenses.projelli.com) once to verify your key is valid. We receive your license key and a randomly generated machine identifier. We do not receive your name, email, IP address (beyond the temporary connection), or any of your files or chat content.
- Periodic license check: Once per week, the app re-contacts the license server to confirm the license is still valid (this enables refund and revocation handling). Same data, license key + machine ID, nothing else.
- Website analytics (projelli.com only): We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless tool. It records anonymous, aggregated page-view counts. No personal data, no IP storage, no cross-site tracking, no cookies, no fingerprinting.
- Customer support emails: If you email [email protected], we receive and store your message and email address for as long as needed to respond.
- Crash reports (opt-in): If you opt in to crash reporting, the app sends an anonymized stack trace to our self-hosted error tracker when the application crashes. No file contents, no chat content, no personal data, just the technical details of the crash.
What we never collect
- Your files or their contents
- Your AI chat conversations or AI model responses
- Your AI provider API keys
- Your name, email, or other personal information (unless you voluntarily provide it via email or purchase)
- Browsing history or behavior tracking
- Cookies for tracking or advertising
3. Third-party services
Projelli relies on a small number of third-party services to operate. Each one has its own privacy policy:
- LemonSqueezy (payment processor and merchant of record), when you buy a license, you provide payment details to LemonSqueezy directly, not to us. LemonSqueezy Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic, OpenAI, Google AI (AI providers), when you use the AI chat features, your prompts and responses go directly from your computer to your chosen AI provider using your API key. We are not in the loop. Each provider has its own privacy policy: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google.
- Plausible Analytics (privacy-friendly website analytics, self-hosted by us). Data policy.
- Brevo (email delivery for support replies and account-related emails). Brevo Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, DDoS protection for projelli.com). Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
4. How we use the data we collect
- License validation data: to verify your license is valid and prevent abuse
- Support emails: to respond to your questions and requests
- Analytics: to understand how many people visit projelli.com so we can improve the product and the website
- Crash reports (opt-in): to identify and fix bugs
5. How long we keep data
- License records: for as long as your license is active, plus 7 years afterwards (for tax compliance)
- Support emails: for as long as needed to respond to and resolve your issue, then archived for up to 2 years
- Analytics: aggregated, no individual records to retain
- Crash reports: 90 days, then deleted
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Note: because Projelli is local-first, almost all of "your data" is already on your computer and entirely under your control. We can only act on the small set of data that's actually in our possession (license records and any emails you've sent us).
7. Children's privacy
Projelli is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
8. International users
Projelli is operated from the United States. If you use Projelli from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. By using Projelli, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be announced on projelli.com and to active license holders via email.
